Storybook Ballet (2-4 yrs) - (45 min) - This is a class where ALL of our dancers get a chance to hear, read, act, and dance in one of many children’s classic favorite stories. Each class is steeped in fun and fantasy as the dancers use costumes and become the characters in the stories.
Combo (5-7 yrs) - (1 ½ hours) - This dance class introduces the 5 to 7 year old student to the three technical cores of dance: Ballet, Jazz, and Tap. 30 minutes are spent on each discipline. Emphasis is put on proper pre-placement of extremities while having a good time. Children who are not ready to do 1 hour of each discipline, benefit greatly form the combo series.
Tiny Tot Tap (2-4 yrs) - (1/2 hour) - This is an introductory tap class for 2 to 4 year olds. Students in this class are having fun while they learn to coordinate memory with body movements. Rhythm, musicality, and body awareness play an important part at this level.
Tiny Tot Tumbling (2-4 yrs) - This class introduces acro through a fun and unique learning experience. Acrobatic skills and strengthening are acquired through games, props, and imagination. This program is a basic foundation for the more advanced levels of Acro.
Ballet (8+ yrs) - This discipline helps develop the technical foundation for all other forms of dance. This course includes traditional barre and center work designed to build a beautiful, graceful, and healthy body with fine posture and poise. We encourage all students to make ballet part of their training. With sufficient study of ballet, proper technique, and a strong body, a dancer may advance to pointe work.
Pointe - The goals of the introductory pointe class include strenthening the feet and ankles, breaking in the pointe shoes, and learning proper execution of skills while wearing pointe shoes.
Tap - This, the most rhythmic of the dance forms, is an excellent way to increase coordination of the mind and body as well as to develop a sense of rhythm, timing, and expression. A warm-up involving flexibility and strengthening exercises is followed by simple steps. Steps are ultimately choreographed into short combinations. As the student advances, the steps and combinations become more intricate and challenging.
Jazz - This is a fun and exciting dance form. Since jazz technique requires a sound knowledge of ballet terminology and technique, we recommend the jazz classes be taken conjunction with a ballet class. Students will learn jazz isolation, turn techniques, floor work, and combinations.
Acro (5+ yrs) - Students have the opportunity to learn different types of tumbling techniques. This class will increase a student’s upper body strength and balance, enabling them to execute difficult acrobatic skills.
Hip Hop (4+ yrs) - The student will explore the different types of street style movement. They will have the chance to learn fun and challenging combinations to the songs of today’s top artists, while incorporating fast footwork and style.
Broadway Kids (4-7 yrs) - This class introduces the 4 to 7 year old student to Musical Theatre. By incorporating theatre exercises, basic dance steps, and beginning vocal techniques, the students are welcomed into the wide world of Broadway performing.
Musical Theatre (8+ yrs) - This class combines the three most popular disciplines of performing: dancing, singing, and acting. A rotating schedule is used to successfully expose the students to every area.
Lyrical (8+ yrs) - This class is a cross between ballet, jazz, and modern techniques with a more contemporary feel of choreography. . Dance movements aim toward interpreting the lyrics of songs used in class. Dancers focus on technique, expression of emotion through music, floorwork, lifts, partnering, and spatial progressions.
Composition (8+ yrs) - Designed to push a dancer to their artistic ability, this class requires students to be creative as well as take risks that they wouldn’t take in a traditional class. Students will read, write, paint, draw pictures, and enjoy the art of dance.
Stretch - Every dancer should be growing in flexibility and muscle strength. This class focuses on developing muscles specifically used in dance technique.
Turns & Jumps - Some of the most exciting points of any dance routine would be the difficult jumps and turns!! Mastering these tricks can add desired difficulty to any routine.
